YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

WHAT SKILL LEVEL IS REQUIRED?
Ideally to get the most of the Festival you won’t be a complete beginnner in the paddle sport. You don’t need to be a sea kayaker, but having been paddling in other crafts (open canoe, short boats, SUP or SOT) would help.

I HAVEN’T PADDLED FOR A WHILE BUT WOULD LOVE TO GET BACK INTO IT. WOULD THE FESTIVAL BEE FOR ME?
Definitely – small ratios and helpers will allow the groups to be made according to abilities.

IF I WANT TO PUSH MYSELF, WILL THERE BE ENOUGH CHALLENGE IN THE WORKSHOPS?
Yes. Challenge can come in many forms, such as sea conditions, technical difficulty, distance, or simply trying something new. All coaches are very experienced and have skills and knowledge to explore different concepts, and ensuring sufficient challenge and motivation is found for everyone.

I DON’T HAVE A KAYAK AT THE MOMENT, IS IT POSSIBLE TO HIRE ONE?
Kayaks (NDK’s) and kit for up to about 12 people will be provided by Tidal Waters. Please check kayak hire page for details, and  tick the option on the booking form.

CAN I HIRE OTHER PERSONAL PADDLING EQUIPMENT?
No. You are responsible for bringing all your other clothing for the three days. See Kit list for list of what to bring.

CAN I HIRE CAMPING EQUIPMENT?
No, sorry.

I DON’T HAVE A CAR, HOW WILL MY KAYAK BE TRANSPORTED? So far we always managed to get all kayaks and people to and from the beach every day having people to share and offer lifts. We are confident that this year we will achieve the same.

CAN I BRING MY PARTNER?
While we understand that some people need to travel to the festival with their partners numbers are limited. Our aim is to create a real community feel where every participant is an active one. As a result places are strictly restricted to 8. Any partners will be expected to be able to paddle independently, be happy to support the co-ordination of the day for the women participants as well as join in the fun during the evening.  Cost is £75 per person covering evening meals, camping and t-shirt.  Please, tick the option on the booking form. We will be updating the places available here, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

CAN MY DAUGHTER  TAKE PART?
The festival is open to adult female paddlers over 18 years, and young women over 16 years superwised by an over 18 paddler.

WHAT IS THE CAMPSITE LIKE?

The festival has its own field within the Alston Farm  campsite ground. There are toilets and showers, these take 20p for hot water, and washing up facilities close by. The ground is big and gives enough space to everyone. The marquee is located there as well from Friday evening till Monday morning. You need to bring your own tent and camping equipment, or vans. Those who need electricity need to reserve that with the campsite direct, as hook ups are limited.

CAN I CAMP BEFORE AND AFTER FESTIVAL?

Yes, you can. You will pay directly to the campsite. the price is £9 per head per night.

ARE THERE ANY POST-FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES?
There might be. Details will be posted here.

IS THERE OPPORTUNITY TO LINK WITH OTHER PARTICIPANTS TO CAR SHARE?
We can’t coordinate this for you but if you are looking for someone to car share with, feel free to use the Facebook group page.
